Rector's Reflection
Thanks be to God.
Whenever I pray, with someone or on my own.
I begin with a prayer of thanks.
Even if it doesn’t feel like there is much to give thanks for.
Even if I am sorrowful, or angry or grieving.
Even if things are not OK with me.
Not OK with others.
Not OK with the world.
I begin with thanks.
Thanks for this day.
Thanks for every good gift (even if I struggle to name them).
Thanks for God – God’s generosity, grace and goodness.
Prayers of thanks do not take away one bit from the prayers of a broken and hurting heart, from prayers of confession, intercession and lament. However, they remind me that what prayer changes most of all through relationship and conversation with God is me.
Thanks be to God!
