Below is a poem/prayer/reflection that Norma shared with me (author unknown). It was shared with her at a meeting of the Mother’s Union – an almost 150-year-old ecumenical movement. The Mothers' Union provides a network through which members can serve Christ in their own community. This is done through prayer, financial support and actively working at the grassroots level in programs that meet local needs.
I thought it was wonderful food for thought on fasting and feasting. May it provide us with nourishment for this Lenten journey.
Thanks be to God!

The Fast Life
Fast from judging others,
Feast on Christ dwelling in them.
Fast from fear of illness,
Feast on the healing power of God.
Fast from words that pollute,
Feast on speech that purifies.
Fast from discontent,
Feast on gratitude.
Fast on anger,
Feast on patience.
Fast from pessimism,
Feast on hope.
Fast from negatives,
Feast on encouragement.
Fast from bitterness,
Feast on forgiveness.
Fast from self-concern,
Feast on compassion.
Fast from suspicion,
Feast on truth.
Fast on gossip,
Feast on purposeful silence.
Fast from problems that overwhelm,
Feast on prayer that sustains.
Fast from anxiety,
Feast on faith.
